Zenit St. Petersburg striker and long term Everton transfer target Pavel Pogrebnyak is reportedly in talks with his club to secure a big money move to continental Europe , with teams from England and France heading the queue for his signature. The big striker, who scored 10 goals in Zenit’s run to winning the UEFA cup last season, would be available for around £12 million.

With David Moyes reiterating again that Everton are only in the market for loan deals this January, the news from Russia is sure to end any speculation that the forward could arrive on Merseyside to help the Toffee’s push for Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, reports from Scotland that Hearts winger Andrew Driver will not be putting in a transfer request will not stop Everton making a bid for the starlet. “I have a long contract and I am very happy in Edinburgh ”. Everton have been monitoring his situation closely, having watched him this season and whether the lure of playing in the Premiership will prove too much for the youngster remains to be seen.
