So as two of our players leave for ‘Hell’ the loan signing of Phillipe Senderos is confirmed on loan for the rest of the season. Both Lucas Neill and Jo left for the warmer shores of Turkey this week, and whilst both did a job, I for one am not too sad to see the back of either of them. Jo in particular has shown this season all of the promise that forced Citeeh to loan out a striker they had signed for £19m. He in short has been absolutely terrible, no skill, no effort, nothing. I would be VERY surprised to ever see him in the Premier League again, or indeed any top league. But good luck to him, the most un-Brazilian Brazilian in the world.

Lucas Neill on the other hand certainly played his part for us, filling in at centre back during the extended absense of Phil Jagielka and the continuing injury problems and African Cup of Nations duty for Jo Yobo. For me however, whilst Johnny Heitinga has made the role his own in recent weeks Lucas always looked suspect when put under pressure, not to mention the deflected own goals he tends to concede (an unlucky fact). Tim Howard seems unsure of where to position himself when behind Lucas, maybe this is the reason.

So two out, one in. Phillipe was a regular in Arsenal’s quite impressive back 4 a couple of years ago, but with the purchases of Gallas and Vermaelen has found opportunities limited at the Emirates Stadium. Moyes looked to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer, but that was not to be. Phillipe has not played in the FA Cup for Arsenal this season so will be available should Everton get past Birmingham (or indeed draw), as he was not registered in time for today’s game. He should also be available for the Europa League (correct me if I am wrong) next month for the ties against Sporting Lisbon.
