McCarthey Going Nowhere
In the news that we all hoped, and in our hearts knew, Roberto Martinez has confirmed that no offer or contact has been made from Arsenal about the availability of James McCarthy and that should it arise will be rebuffed.
Apparently Arsenal were to offer £20m for a played we signed 2 years ago for £16m and has got infinitely better. If any offer should arise we would have expected upwards of £25m to be the figure.
Everton Can Still Finish Top 4 – Martinez
Well kind of. Roberto was asked the direct question and his response was:
‘What’s realistic is to compete in every game we go into,’ Martinez told a news conference ahead of his side’s match against Hull City at Goodison Park tonight.
‘It’s just about making sure we keep managing games well. The league is a third through now and internally we can have a clear direction of where we need to improve and what we’ve done really well.
‘What we’ve done in Europe is remarkable, to qualify with one game spare, so it’s been a really strong start to the campaign and I am very pleased with what we’ve achieved.’
The national rags have read that as ‘we will finish top 4’. Whatever, a win tonight is the immediate target.
Mirallas to Get New Deal in Summer
Roberto is relaxed about Mirallas’s contract situation at Everton. The 27 year old Belgian is out of contract at the end of next season but Roberto said:
“Kevin still has a long term contract with us but we’ll always look behind the scenes to do as much work as we can in those individual aspects. At the moment there’s nothing to mention.”
Nothing to see here move along.
In other news the pope is Catholic. James Tomkins made an apology of sorts for his embarrassing dive to the floor holding his face following being pushed in the chest by Kev Mirallas. He still stands by the fact that Kev caught him on the chin, but whatever, would have had more respect if you stopped at sorry.
