Everton – After losing their last four premier league games, Everton welcome the champions Manchester City to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon which is essentially a must win game for Everton and Roberto Martinez. Everton will be boosted by their late show on Tuesday night against West Ham after a late finish by Romelu Lukaku to earn Everton a replay. It was an all round better performance than what we have had of recent times.
According to rumours, Roberto could be facing the sack if he doesn’t start turning results and performances around. Although it is unlikely that chairman Bill Kenright will sack him after such a successful last season.
Everton team news – Everton will be without James McCarthy due to a hamstring problem which Martinez believes he has got to the bottom of after saying “I am very confident that when he’s [McCarthy] back, he will be back to stay”
Leighton Baines is a major doubt for Saturday’s fixture but will do a late fitness test this week.
Manchester City – Manchester City will be attempting to keep tabs on Chelsea who they are now level on points with at the top of the Premier league table. City have won 8 of their last 10 games in the league, drawing the other 2 and picking up a total of 26 points out of 30. This form has boosted them to come from 8 points behind Chelsea to be level on points with them.
Manchester City team news – Vincent Kompany could make a return against Everton along with Sergio Aguero which Everton will be fearful of. They are without Nastasic and Dzeko who are sidelined for the foreseeable future.
