Speculation has linked Everton with a £1.5m move for World Cup winning Lukas Podolski, 30 from Arsenal and for use we see it as a no risk transfer.

Romelu Lukaku will be Everton’s lead striker next season but it’s always good to have decent backup. At present the cover upfront is fairly thin. In theory we have Kone, Naismith, Mirallas as well as some youngsters but none of them are out and out strikers, and indeed Mirallas may not be with us next season if reports are to believed.

£1.5m for a decent quality striker as backup should be seen as excellent business for us to be able to spend bigger on improving other areas such as wide midfield and defensive cover.
